Budget Proposal

n the nation's first-ever $3 trillion budget proposal, President Bush seeks to seal his legacy of promoting a strong defense to fight terrorism and tax cuts to spur the economy. Democrats, who control Congress, are pledging fierce opposition to Bush's final spending plan — perhaps even until the next president takes office.

This budget would lead to huge budget deficits, around $400 billion for this year and next. But even those estimates could prove too low given the rapidly weakening economy and the total costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which Bush does not include in his request for the budget year beginning Oct. 1.

$$9,242,812,017,629.17 is the current national debt. This is $30,377.70 for each citizen. How do you feel about adding 400 billion more to it this year and next year?

I think that we are digging our nation into a hole. Our national debt is unreal. Although everyone likes a tax cut, it may not be the answer to our nation's monetary problems. I think that President Bush needs to sit back down and reconsider his plan. We need to cut costs and start being smart with our money or else there could be definite problems for the next generation. We need to stop spending huge amounts of money that we don't have.

This is basically all BS. The Government is making it even tougher to get out of the debt we're in by adding more and more each year. It's really kind of pathetic how terrible we are at managing money. Basically, we need a new President to fix it. and we need to legalize marijuana, that'll bring in a lot of money from all the potheads

I can understand why Bush would think that by spending more money, we can help our economy and prevent a recession. Unfortunately, our enormous deficit is only fueling troubles in our economy. Failing to deal with the issue will only make things worse over time. Eventually we're going to need to stop building sandbags and let the flood come.

President Bush is going to have to do something else if he wants our nation to come out of debt. It would probably be a good thing for congress to put off Bush's final spending plan until the next president takes office hopefully will have an idea to help fix the nation's debt. If 400 billion more dollars was added to the debt that the U.S. already has it would be a lot and how can people let our nation get that far into debt.

I dont think we should legalize weed we have way too many pot heads the way it is we dont need more of them. Our National Debt is way too high we dont need to get our selves in deeper. Like the speaker said we all want tax cuts but how is that helping our National Debt. It is never going to get lower and will just get worse if we dont deal with it. We wont spend our money here anyways so wont help our economy more like Chinas!!

It's not that easy to legalize marijuana. It would take many years and many discussions in the congress before they would ever pass that bill. I believe that we should stay the course we are at, but we should go around and cut cost every where not in just one spot. Starting with the congress men and woman's benefits. There should be limit terms and when they are done the benefits are done with them.

i think that is crazy that we are digging our nation into a bigger hole i dont think that we are going to solve our money problems if we keep doing this. It would be nice to have a tax cut but i dont think that is would solve any problems. i think that if this keep up our next generation is going to have to pay. We need to stop spending huge amounts of money that we dont have to on things to we dont need money to go to.

The government is just making it harder to get out of this debt were in. The budget is way high already the way it is. We cant keep spending money that we dont even have. It would take a long time to leagalize marijuana. We need to just cut costs and think before we spend our money.

Our nations debt is enormous but most of the money has been used for good reasons. A lot of money has been put for the war in Iraq and has made our nation a much safer place to be in. I think that our nations safety is more important that our debt. But I do think spending needs to be cut some.

Alex is a smart man and i think that you should become president of the united states. Legalizing marijuana to help bring down the national debt is the greatest idea that i have ever heard in my life. If they did legalize marijuana it would probably save a lot of money this country spends on trying to prevent people from smoking it.

You know what i agree with alex they should legalize weed then are country would be out of debit and all that fun stuff. Plus it would just be cool

I agree with tyraho18. The money that we borrow is going for a good cause. The nations debt is high but where else can we get the money necessary to keep our nation safe? I think we should just go ahead and dig into the Alaska oil fields. This could save us a lot of money.

Its unbelievable how much we're in debt! But for the most part I think the money has been used well. Legalizing pot wouldnt do jackcrap. Everyone would be too high to give a rip about anything going on.

I think we need to spend less money on fighting terrorism. Our nation is already in so much debt. We cant afford to spend that much money. We should start working off our debt instead.

xXX_BANG_bria_mae_BANG_XXx said...

The debt that are nation is in is absolutely pathetic, and i don't think that legalizing pot would be benificial in any aspect of the situation. we need to sit down and concider EVERYTHING. we do have options, and i'm sure there are a lot more that us 'civilians' know about.

The national debt is out of control and legalizing marijuana wouldn't be able to settle that huge of a deficit. The Bush administration refuses to cut spending. They cannot see the effect that this debt will have on future generations.

I think that we are just digging our nation into a bigger, deeper hole. I think the government is just making it harder for the nation to get out of debt. The budget is way to high the way it is, we cant keep going and spending money that we don't have.

Crazy. Thats what I think. Tax cuts are always nice, but in the long run is that what we really want, to have such a huge debt? Things will just continue to get worse.. then what's going to happen? We don't even spend half the money in the correct places that really NEED it. If it was being used properly to help what needs it, it would be a completely different story.

Tax cuts are nice but the debt is just going to get bigger. Basically our president is dumb and he is screwing our country.

Well, I guess I dont know the answer to the problem of a national debt, but i dont think that it helps to add to it. I am not gonna say if i think its a bad plan or a good plan, because i just dont know what the outcome is gonna be. I will say that i am glad to live in a country where i feel safe and a country that is willing to use its own money to help other nations have the same freedoms.

if we dont do something about this we are not going to have any money left.

the other countrys wont let us barrow any moey money then the goverment will make us pay for it and then the world will end.

It cost a lot of money to keep our nation safe from terrorism but i do think that there are other things that we could be saving money on so that our debt doesnt get too outrageous. But freedom isnt free
