ANOTHER STIMULUS PACKAGE??

As you know, the stimulus package proposed by President Bush passed a few weeks ago. States are now asking for another package. Governors are asking for money to build infrastructure throughout the US. They are asking for a new stimulus bill that provides $25 billion to $30 billion for improving the country's roads, waterways and bridges. The package would not only repair the nation's infrastructure, it would provide jobs and stimulate the economy.

"We are gathering here for one reason in Washington and that is to ask the federal government, to inspire the federal government... or to actually force Washington to build our nation's infrastructure and take this subject seriously," said Arnold Schwarzenegger, California governor, Republican and action movie star, at a press conference during the National Governors Association's annual meeting.

President Bush has been cool to the idea and the governors did not receive a response to their request.

What do you think? Where will this money come from?

Again, this is another crappy stimulus plan that will just be using our tax dollars in an attempt to stimulate the economy. They're taking money away from us to put into building roads and garbage. It's pretty much just a big waste of money. I still say the best option would be to cut taxes, giving more money to the people so they feel richer, and money will be spent. That'll help.

I think this is a good idea but you know that the money will come from the citizens pockets. Now that we are having higher prices and more tax on stuff, people will have less money. The way that they will get their money for this package is to tax more towards the other people. Then again I guess they are making more jobs and hopefully this will stimulate the economy so why not try it.

I think the money will come from the citizens pockets. I think it's not going to help the economy very well

Well i think that the stimulus package will help the economy because it will give people jobs and it will allow our roads to be repaired. Though the money will be coming from our pockets it will be going to help take care of the country's infrastructures. i mean honestly has anyone driven on the raods from sebeka to wadena the just recently re-tarred it and it is already gion to poop. or 16 to wolf lake now that road is crap you cant go one mile without your car vibrate like its in an earthquake from all the cracks and pot holes in the road.

Wtf i dont know where all this money is coming from. Don't we have a Zillion Kafillion Sillicillion Dollar det? Its like we are just pulling money out of our...... Trees and giving it to people! BAD Idea!

I understand that our economy is near recession. Something has to be done but is spending, spending, spending really the way to do this? I think that we should pay more attention to our infrastructure but this would be billions of more dollars in debt. I thought that one stimulus package was way more than enough. Two is just over the top. Give the people more money and the economy will pick itself up.

I don't understand why we would borrow more money when we are debt just to stimulate the economy.

this is a bad idea. you know where all of the money is coming from, and it sure as heck isn't coming from the govenrmnent. it is coming out of our pockects, too bad we cant' decide where we put our money.

I agree that the money is going to come from the citizens pockets. But i dont think that it will help the economy. We just get more tax added on to items so buy the time you get what you actually need you cant afford what you want!

I suppose that it would be good, if it really did provide jobs to people, and did repair our roads and bridges, but all this money sounds like it is coming from the citizens pockets. I would spend a little more money so that I wouldnt be driving on a crap road. Having more job opportunities will help stimulate the economy so I agree with rachael why not try it. If it doesnt work it doesnt really matter nothing ever works it seems like anymore

i think its kinda dumb were spending money we dont even have and were the ones paying for it all. if they cut taxes we will have more money to spend on our own i think that will help the economy more than borrowing money and making us go even more into debt!

It'll come from our taxes as usual.. didn't we just pass a tax to raise gas prices? What's that supposed to do? BLAH! Just cut our taxes, we'll spend more. I know that if I had more money I would surely spend it! If we're taxed more, yes it'll provide more jobs.. for now.. but we'll end up right back here again, but further in debt..

I think that this would be a good stimulus package to pass, because our nations infranstructure is important along with the jobs that would be created. But obviously doing this would put us more in debt.

If the stimulus package will provide jobs, improve roads, and stimulate the economy, i think its a go. We have to somehow stimulate the economy to give it a boost even if it does put us in more dept. I think that it will help the economy in the long run.

I think there are good intentions in passing another stimulus package, but i dont have faith that it would work. This is just more money being borrowed so that we are in even more debt. I agree that something has to be done to stimulate the economy, but there should be another way to find more jobs. Lower the tuition of colleges so that people can afford to be educated for the jobs and this could maybe help boost the economy.

I think by keep barrowing money we don't have is dumb. its making us go in more debt then we already are. if we cut taxes we will have more money to spend.

It doesn't sound like a very good stimulus package. The states are trying to help solve the problem but by doing so it will only worsen. If this new stimulus package doesn't work our nation will be even farther in debt and right now I think trying to fix that is the main issue. If we get farther into debt it is going to be a big problem for the next president.

These stupid stimulus packages are getting out of hand. I'm sorry but throwing $30 billion into another program that will most likely to little to the economy. I really don't understand why the government thinks that spending all this money on another program is going to do any more good than just lighting the cash on fire and having a $30 billion bonfire.

I can see why they want a stimulus package to fix our roads and everything but I don't know if its going to help our economy that much. Most likely they are going to get there money from raising taxes on all sorts of things.

i can see where they would say lets use the money to build roads and stuff and its just like in the depprison the goverment pumped a lot of money out thier and it seemed to work. i just dont think that our econmy is in that bad of shape yet. made save this plan for a emergncy sititon and you know what i suck at spelling.

Obviously the money is coming from our pockets. But its still a toss whether or not its a good idea. It seems like a good idea but other options that other people have pointed out seem pretty decent too.

i think this should be up to the citizens of our country. They will be the ones to pay the taxes for these roads. I don't think that MN has too worry because I always hear people from other states saying how good our roads are...maybe the states have to come up with their own funding for the roads. We all want to drive on nice roads...but is it worth billions?? I say LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!!

tyraho18 said...

How can someone compare new roads to a big $ bonfire? There is no comparison at all.

Gangster Conservative said...

Again all ya libs aren't looking at the big picture... it just so happens that we are going into a recession.. how may i ask are you going to boost the economy if you aren't pumping money into it? this plan would better our roads and walalala give people jobs....wallaala jobs equals people making money...wlalala people making money equals people spending money....wlala people spending money equals a more stable economy. yeah why don't we all just look at the short term loses in tax money and not look at the future...

hell no we are in so much debt it will keep growing if we dont do something about it

i think taht this is a crappy idea lets jsut spoend all our money on raods i knwo taht it needs to be done eventually but is not the time to do it. we are too far in debt and our economy is crap. i dont see how this will help the economy. the only way i can see it doing that is that people can get to work easier.
